A FEW OF MY FAVOURITE THINGS: HOME
HOME SWEET HOME
I’ve done a few of these favourite things posts now, and as my last one was all things beauty, I thought I’d make this one about another passion of mine – homeware!
I’ve already given you a mini tour of my flat, but I didn’t go too in-depth on the cute things I’ve filled it with (and quite literally too…I’m not sure I could squeeze in another ornament!)
You could be scrolling for days if I included all of my favourite pieces, so I’ve narrowed it down to just five. Without further ado…
SNAP SNAP!
Miguel and I have amassed quite the collection of vintage and analogue cameras, all of them far too pretty to keep stashed away. They take pride of place on the shelves that sit either side of our fireplace, and include a Praktica that may or may not have “borrowed” from my father, a beautiful medium format Yashica and of course, a few fun Lomography toy cameras.
We love showing our personalities on these shelves – we’re both photographers of sorts, so sitting alongside our cameras you’ll find photography books (as well as a random assortment of books on movies, london, cakes, fashion and the odd Portuguese novel).
SHELVE IT
Ahh! You don’t know how happy I am with my latest addition! This beautiful shelving unit from Sengtai houses all the shoes that were formerly scattered around the house. You know that thing where you line your shoes up on the wall? Then you need to start a new line behind that? And then on top?! That happened. Thanks to this beaut I’m now able to open the office door once again! Phewwww.
When space is limited, shelves are a lifesaver! I can’t wait to start switching up my ‘displays’ on them, it’s almost like having a little shop to merchandise.
ANNA
I’ve had this pretty little print from illustrator Helena Perez Garcia for a few years now, but now it’s got it’s own spot in a frame. I’ve bought a few others since and keep telling myself I need to swap them out now and then to keep things fresh…but can’t bring myself to take this one out!
Anna Karina is my all time favourite, and if you’ve not seen Une Femme est une Femme, add it to your list!
FAMILY AFFAIRS
I’ve been wearing Family Affairs beautiful creations for years, so was delighted to hear they had launched a home collection! Designer Nina kindly sent me a cushion, adorned with illustrated feathers, twigs and crystals in a patchwork design. Their quilts are a total dream, too!
TEA FOR TWO
Technically a coffee set (though I’m a tea girl!), this beautiful crockery was a vintage find that I spotted in my hometown way before I had a place of my own to put it in. I loved the design, and now it fits perfectly with my other odds and ends.
I’ll admit, it doesn’t get a great deal of use – perhaps I need to invite my friends over for tea more often!
