WHAT’S IN MY BAG: FESTIVAL ESSENTIALS

WELLIES AHOY!

My summer has been distinctly festival-free up until now, so to rectify that (what’s summer without a festival or two?!) Miguel and I are heading off to Secret Garden Party with Swarovski today. Could there be a more perfect time to share what I pack when heading off to a festival? I think not!

Read on to find out what I’ll be hauling to Cambridgeshire with me right about now…

BEAUTY BITS

If there is one thing we probably all obsess over at festivals, it’s trying to maintain our usual presentable selves whilst sleeping in a tent for nearly a week in all weathers, and for some, partying ’til the early hours. I’m not that crazy when it comes to festivals, and when I’ve eaten my weight in food and caught all the bands I wanted to see, I’m happy to turn in for the night and get some beauty sleep, but even that doesn’t make the greasy hair and burnt nose any easier.

So for Secret Garden Party I’ve packed up dry shampoo, sun cream, and all of those mini samples that I seem to collect throughout the year. If you’re heading to a festival too, don’t forget a good lip balm, and even if you do insist on attempting your cleansing routine in it’s entirety, you’ll still need a pack of wipes – they come in useful for just about everything at a festival!

Oh! And never forget hairbands and hair grips – even on the second day without your trusty straighteners you’ll need to disguise what’s going on up there somehow!

ACCESSORISE

Festivals are the best excuse ever to go OTT with stacking up your jewellery, or wearing those cat ears you bought but have no real use for. And let’s not forget the faithful floral crown – I’m pretty sure they still aren’t over!

I’ve packed up some colourful Swarovski pieces (I’m thinking this ring pack and matching necklace are winners), a selection of sunnies (ever the optimist), and a hat or two.

WATERPROOFS & WELLIES

I’m stating the obvious here, but don’t ever head off to a festival thinking you’re not going to need your wellies. I’ve done this on more than one occasion – both times I ended up with wet, muddy feet and an empty wallet from forking out for new ones at the overpriced camping stalls.

Even without any rain predicted, I’ve packed up my Barbour and wellies! I’m crossing my fingers…

ESSENTIALS

Never mind the glitter or feathers in your hair…save that space in your backpack for some toilet roll and a heavy duty phone charger! The bits I wouldn’t be able to live without this weekend include a good jumper for chilly evenings, painkillers, hand sanitiser and ALL the socks.

My portable charger will keep my iPhone Instagramming away for the weekend, and some cute packs of Kleenex will double up as toilet roll for when I inevitably have to use the portaloos. Yuck!
